The holidays are here and most local farmers markets have closed down for the season. But if serving your family fresh, locally produced food continues to be a value of yours, how can you sustain that through the winter months?

The grocery store dilemma

While supermarkets claim to supply regionally sourced meat, dairy, and produce, it’s difficult to determine exactly what “regional” means. Additionally, it takes time to research which brands are non-GMO and which companies practice humane animal treatment, especially if you normally get your food from local farmers in warmer months.

If you’re ordering food for delivery in an app on your phone, these questions become even more difficult to answer since you can’t always read the labels on the products or compare one item with another. But taking the time to go to the grocery store yourself can also be a burden during the holidays when you’d rather be at home with your family. This reality often leads to some sort of compromise, sacrificing either family time or quality local foods.

Local food you can trust

You shouldn’t have to choose between food convenience and food integrity. Your family deserves safe, healthy, local food this holiday season, and there are ways for you to provide it. Try one of these suggestions:

  • Search for year-round farmers markets near you by visiting the Michigan Farmers Market Association website and selecting the current month
  • Check if any of your favorite farmers market vendors have their own farm store that’s open year round and take the family with you on a visit
  • Turn to brands you already trust and make them your go-to for food and ingredients for holiday cooking
  • Try home delivery services from local farms like Country Dairy

As a producer-handler, Country Dairy controls the entire process of food production, from animals and their feed to the finished product on your shelf. All of their dairy products are produced without rBST and are non-GMO, and they’ve been serving West Michigan since 1983.

In addition to a year-round farm store, Country Dairy offers delivery of their farm fresh products to homes in Muskegon, North Muskegon, Norton Shores, Fruitport, Whitehall, Montague, Shelby and nearby areas. This holiday season, you can count on Country Dairy to not only nourish your family with safe, healthy food, but to make it convenient, too.

How does it work?

Every other Friday, Country Dairy hand delivers orders to homes in the cities near their farm between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. There is no middleman delivery service; an employee of Country Dairy personally provides your products. All you have to do is leave a cooler on your porch or whatever outdoor location you choose.

Placing your order is easy. First, go to the home delivery page. Second, fill your cart with beef, pork, cheese, ice cream and 70 other food products from your local farm. Third, press submit and relax while our team packs and delivers your fresh produce to your doorstep.

Make sure you place your order at least two days before the delivery date. Orders are accepted up to one week before delivery and end on Wednesdays at 8:00 PM. There is a $10.00 delivery fee, but if you spend over $80.00, that fee is waived.

Plan your order

With home delivery by Country Dairy, you don’t have to compromise your values or sacrifice your time this holiday season. Your family will continue to benefit from locally sourced foods that are produced in safe and humane ways, and they’ll get to spend more time with you, too. Place your order here.
